Stark Excavating is a union company and is signatory to various organized labor agreements in the territories in which it operates. As such, most of the employment opportunities at Stark are fulfilled by union members called up from the various union halls. Digitizing Technician
Stark Excavating, a major heavy civil contractor located in Central Illinois, is seeking qualified candidates for a full time Digitizing Technician position. This position involves preparing earthwork and material volume takeoffs using AGTEK computerized digitizing software.
Duties include: reading and interpreting civil construction drawings and specifications; performing detailed volume and area takeoffs from construction drawings; and, providing detailed summaries of quantities to respective staff. This position requires a four year degree in civil engineering, construction management or related field, or equivalent work experience, with a minimum of two years experience with AGTEK v1.5 and AGTEK materials software. Some experience with Microsoft Excel and Word is also preferred.

Estimator/Project Manager
Stark Excavating has a vacant position for an Estimator/Project Manager in our Bloomington office and we are currently seeking top candidates to fill that position. Qualified candidates must have a minimum 5-years heavy civil and private estimating experience with emphasis on earthwork, underground utilities, and concrete paving. Potential candidates must demonstrate proficiency in HCSS HeavyBid, Microsoft Office suite and Microsoft Project and/or Primavera SureTrak software. Ideal candidates would be aggressive individuals with a creative approach to estimating.
Job duties include:
Estimate and write bids and proposals for new projects using HCSS HeavyBid.
Assist in proposal planning and attend site and project specific pre-bids meetings.
Assist in the project development process from receipt of proposal through project award.
Prepare initial project schedules using Microsoft Project or Primavera SureTrak.
Generate purchase orders and sub-contracts.
Provide schedule, budget and initial start up information to field staff upon award of project.

Accounting Manager
Stark Excavating, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated, hands-on individual to fill the newly defined role of Accounting Manager in our Bloomington office. The Accounting Manager will report to the Chief Financial Officer and supervise the day-to-day activities of the accounting staff consisting of 3 Accountants and 10 other support staff. The ideal candidate will possess the following experience:

An Accounting degree from an accredited college or university is required and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred.
